  1. Sovereignty is an absolute authority within a 
  2. given territory. The possession of 
  3. sovereignty is taken to be the distinguishing 
  4. feature of the state, as against other forms 
  5. of community. The term has an internal 
  6. aspect, in that it refers to the ultimate 
  7. source of authority within a state, such as a 
  8. parliament or monarch, and an external 
  9. aspect, where it denotes the independence of 
  10. the state from any outside authority.
